Hume Departure & Return Info

What to expect on Hume departure morning and information about the campers' return.

A couple weeks before camp you will receive an email from our Hume Registrar specifying what time to arrive at Quail on departure day. If you did not receive it, please contact our Hume Registrar at 209-951-7380.

DEPARTURE DAY: SUNDAY

ALL campers must come to Quail the morning of departure for a health screening, regardless of transportation choice.

ALL campers must do steps 1-3 below. Only campers taking the bus need to do steps 4-7. Steps should be completed in this order.

  1. Go to the health screening table to answer a few questions with our nurses. When done, they will hand you a form.
  2. Take the health screening form to your camp's check-in table. You may not check in without the form.
  3. Report and turn in any medications at your camp's table. (See the "What to Pack" page for information about bringing medications.)
  4. Get luggage tags for each of your items from your camp's table. Write your name on each tag used, and attach them to your items.
  5. Put your luggage (except for your carry-on) in the designated luggage spot for your camp. Put luggage as close to the grass as possible to keep a path open for the buses.
  6. Once you're all checked in and your luggage is put in the designated area, please stand off to the side and out of the driving path in the parking lot - the buses will be coming through here when they arrive.
  7. Once the buses arrive, it will be your responsibility to ensure that your items are placed on the bus.
  • First bus that comes in: Wagon Train and Meadow Ranch
  • Second bus that comes in: Ponderosa

Be prepared to get on the bus when it arrives, after making sure your luggage is on it. Keep an ear out for the "get on the bus" instructions from our camp leaders.

It takes a while to get 100 people checked in and their luggage loaded, so we appreciate your help in making this a smooth process.

What to Expect Once the Campers Are on the Buses

Once the campers and luggage are on the buses, we are close but not quite ready to leave. As a parent/guardian, you may be wondering what the holdup is. Well, here's what's happening on those buses before they get rolling.

  1. The bus driver goes over instructions with the passengers.
  2. Our leaders on each bus go over additional instructions and take roll.
  3. Our leaders on each bus say a prayer over the trip and week.

Once everything is taken care of, the buses will start rolling and the campers will be off for an amazing week!

If any parents want to stick around and help put tables and signs away, we would greatly appreciate it! The more hands, the quicker it goes.

Camper Return

RETURN DAY: SATURDAY

If we are transporting your camper, we can guestimate that the buses will arrive back at Quail Lakes Baptist Church in Stockton between 1:00 and 2:30pm. We try to send out an email Saturday once we have a more specific time of arrival. Often, campers contact parents when they have cell service (around the Fresno area) to let them know an estimated time of arrival.

Please note that we will NOT be stopping for lunch on the way home.

If YOU are transporting your camper* from Hume, please pick up your camper at 7:00am. Please plan accordingly, as there may be heavy traffic. Pick-up location depends on the camp.

*Please speak with your camper's camp leader (usually the ministry's Director) prior to departure to solidify pick-up arrangements, since you won't be able to contact them once they're at camp.

BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE QUAIL CAMPUS, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE COLLECTED ALL OF YOUR BELONGINGS AND MEDICATIONS!!!
