It is our mission to create a Youth Mentoring environment where positive life changing experiences are produced through Christian mentoring. It is our desire to develop and maintain a group of willing men and women of Godly character who are spiritually equipped, to possess the skills to mentor to youth who need a role model within the QLBC family and surrounding community.
To provide Christian Mentors willing to come alongside the children of the next generation, to promote positive life changing experiences to help them reach their God given potential.
What is Youth Mentoring?
Simply stated, mentoring is when a mature, caring adult spends time with a younger individual with similar interests. It is a fact that mentored youth do better in the areas that are most significant in their development. Christian mentoring has the added benefit of offering the opportunity of spiritual growth which comes as a simple and natural result of adult Christians investing their lives in today’s youth.
Mentoring is proven effective in helping vulnerable youth to work through life obstacles, avoid youthful pitfalls, and fulfill their potential. It is also helpful for parents to have an additional voice, someone who can understand their situation, and also support them through their struggles.
What difference does it make?
Volunteer mentors serve as a friend and role model, making a significant and measurable difference in a young person's self-esteem, social skills, school performance, and decision-making skills. Mentored youth are more likely to: avoid self-destructive activities and strengthen their hope and vision for the future. Parents also find hope through a caring friend who can listen and “mentor” them through the ups and downs of raising children.
